Description
“Divine Tear” opal pendant in 18K gold was a People’s Choice award winner in the Queensland Boulder Opal Association design competition in 2018. The bezel-set Australian boulder opal floats in the set of orbs. Its setting was inspired by the en tremblant technique used for setting diamonds. Renata Bernard’s (our Creative Director’s) thought behind it was the represent any overwhelming, emotion-filled moment such as that when an amazing opal is first held in the trembling hands of an opal miner, or when you embrace the loved person after a long break. This pendant is a limited edition of one.
The pendant was hand-crafted by Gerard Wollaston, a descendant of Tullie Wollaston (of “Opal: The Gem of the Never Never,” credited with introducing Australian opals to England), and it comes with the official Certificate of Valuation ( Australia’s principal valuation institution NCJV’s registered member number 672).
The gemstone at the centre of this opal pendant is an Australian boulder opal from Winton opal mining fields in Queensland, Australia. Precious opal’s distinctive quality is its “play of colour,” a phenomenon which manifests in opal’s colours shifting and changing as the gem moves. Australian opals, in general, are the quality benchmark for the world family of opals for their durability and beauty.
This opal pendant arrives in a gun-metal aluminum box inside a paper orange box. It is complete with Opal Minded bow-tied carry bag and the first edition of Opal Minded Lookbook, as well as a Certificate of Authenticity. Opal Minded life-long complimentary opal care service is also included.
